Are You Self Sabotaging Your Diet?

First things first. You’re not going on a diet, you are going to make a permanent change!

No more diet scams that promise quick and easy results. Forget about all the latest fads… high carb, low carb, all carb, no carb. By forcing yourself to a strictly enforced menu you are setting yourself up for failure.

When you say to yourself “I am going on a diet” that implies that eventually you will get off that diet, or fall off and return to your normal eating habits. The key to weight loss is forming new eating habits that will become “normal” to you. If you can do this you will avoid the diet yo yo effect that plagues 90% of the people trying to lose weight. You need to form healthy eating a habits, and teach yourself to only eat only what your body requires. Don’t eat so much in one sitting that you can’t hardly walk.

Here are some other items you should take notice of:

  • Restricting the amount of calories you consume in a day to less than a 1,000. This will cause your body to shut down, and can lead to serious health problems. It will also cause your metabolism to slow down which in the long run will hurt your weight loss efforts.
  • Visit a doctor before going on any diet. There’s no substitute for professional advice, and a doctor can ensure your diet is safe and healthy.
  • Do not eliminate entire food groups from your diet. There are good and bad choices within every food group, and by sticking with the good ones you'll be giving your body all it needs while losing weight.
  • Binging and purging is the worst way to lose weight. By vomiting after every meal you are robbing your body of the nutrients it needs to survive. There are also many other serious health problems associated with this practice so don’t do it.
